Worship
and Services
in St Mary's church
The
regularity of services and attendance has varied considerably over
the years. At first, only evening services were held. Services of
Holy Communion were held from 1903 onwards. A pattern of alternate
Holy Communion and Morning or Evening Services then developed, with
services being held weekly or fortnightly. During the 1970s, services
in winter were held monthly in people's homes. During the last 15
years, there has been a gradual increase in the numbers of services
held, and in the average numbers of people attending. The present
pattern of services is:-
FIRST

SECOND

other four Benefice churches. |
At Newton, coffee is served after morning services.
You are welcome to join us for all services.
A service of Holy Communion is held at 10.00 am on Sundays
at Embleton Parish Church, except
on the first Sunday when there is a 1662 Sung Evensong at 4pm (winter months) and 6pm (summer months)
and on the fifth
Sunday when the Benefice service is
being held elsewhere. (see above).
